Cotons are our joy and keeping our Coton family small allows us to provide the care, love, and affection deserved by every one of our furry companions. Our dogs have been with us since the age of 12 weeks, or from birth. Having them become part of the family so young has allowed us to develop a special bond with each of them. Introducing young puppies also helps to sort out the "doggie dynamics" in the house. Since young Coton puppies are not often territorial at first, this gives them a chance to acclimate and discover their place in the "pack." Although we have squabbles from time to time, they are truly bonded to one another.
During the day, you'll find the dogs either scattered about napping or playing together in the yard. At night, you can usually find us cuddled up on the couch—thus "couch-raised."
With over 20 years' experience breeding Coton de Tulear puppies, we are committed to producing healthy and sound puppies. Before considering any of our dogs for breeding, they are first evaluated to the official breed standard. If a dog has strong breed attributes, we further evaluate by health testing for breed specific and common canine health issues. As a breed, the Coton de Tulear is very healthy and we are doing all we can to ensure the future health of the breed, and current health of our puppies; whether headed for the show ring, or your couch!
A word (or two) about temperament. Lap dogs are common, but the Coton de Tulear possesses a quality that is truly unique. When picked up, they mold to your body in rag-doll fashion. I'm convinced they are the best cuddlers in the world. They are typically friendly and outgoing, are good with children, and with other pets. Several of our pups have gone on to be certified therapy dogs bringing patients and nursing home residents joy through their regular visits. They are such happy dogs, and their attitude is infectious. This is why they have earned the nickname of "anti-stressor dog." But, just like kids, their personalities, even of puppies from the same litter can differ quite a bit!
Your Puppy’s Guarantee:
Puppies are guaranteed to be free of congenital and/or hereditary, life-threatening or life-limiting conditions for one year. Puppies are also guaranteed to be free of contagious or infectious illness for a period of 14 days. We are here for support and to answer any questions –No time limit on that! 😉
Your Puppy’s Condition:
All Cotons of Moring puppies are thoroughly examined and vaccinated before receiving their official North Carolina State health certificate. On the day of pickup, you will find your puppy impeccably groomed and in excellent condition.
Your Puppy’s Socialization:
Socialization is critical! Being a small breeder, having only a few litters each year, allows us to spend oodles of time with the puppies to aid in their socialization. We don't consider it a "job" because it's just plain fun to play with puppies. We also expose the puppies to visitors, children, kitties and a host of new and curious noises, smells, and objects.
Your Puppy’s Smarts:
Cotons, as a breed, are very intelligent and easy to train. When puppies go to their new homes at 10 weeks of age, they are usually doing very well using piddle-pads. Cotons aim to please, so once they figure out what you want from them, they’ll deliver. As puppies, however, it may take a bit of time for them to figure it out. Be patient. Consistency and repetition is the key to great training!
